What to know about the sync feature in OneDrive
- Never store (or sync) sensitive data to your computer.
- Windows 11 syncs Documents, Pictures and Desktop folders to OneDrive with no computer copy. Manual download only.
- You can choose other files and folders you want to sync. You do not have to sync the entire folder.
- Store sensitive data to OneDrive with appropriate University Data Governance permissions.
- Do not sync sensitive data between OneDrive and your computer. You can choose which folders to sync.
- Access synced files through Windows File Explorer and macOS Finder.
- If you delete a synced file from your computer, it is deleted from the OneDrive space and vice versa. OneDrive includes a restore feature for deleted files.
